Looking for something short to read? Or feeling ready to expand your reading horizons and try some new authors? This is the box for you! This will be a shrinking bookbox filled with anthologies. It will be starting out with mostly short story collections, but collected essays, comic anthologies, etc. are welcome too! I am trying to limit poetry, but collections that are mixtures of poetry and prose would be happy additions.

This box will start in late August/early September, and I will need at least 3 participants to run the box. This box will be USA only, due to shipping costs. To join, just post on this thread!

Bookbox rules:

*Try to make sure there is some variety in genres when the box leaves you. Keep in mind that the next participant may disappointed to find a box full of nothing but paranormal romance, or humor, or pulpy action stories.
*When you get the box please post here so we can track its progress.
*Journal all books you take out of the box. Please remember the shrinking aspect here, and take one or two more than you add.
*Make sure the books you add have the BCID in them. It seems obvious, but I have had times when folks forgot and I had to try and track them down.
*Please pass the box on within 2 weeks. If something comes up and you are going to have to hold onto the box a little longer, let me know so we don't have to worry that it got lost.

Count me in - I love short stories!

Count me in - I love short stories!

I , too...LOVE short stories, or shall I say...they love me, and more and more so these days it seems with my increasing memory issues and limited mobility. ; ) I believe I have a few anthologies here in the house and not in storage that I could add in from other BCers that would help Keep Them Moving, as well...a win-win, so I'd LOVE to join in this one...THANK YOU for hosting emmejo!!! ; )

...I'm not usually a big fan of short stories, but I've found I've been reading more and more of them lately.

I have a few books that fit the bill here, and I have been getting more and more into short stories lately.

Had to check first if I had more than sci-fi/fantasy. (I have one unregistered travel anthology and I plan to go to a bookstore today to see if I get another anthology or two).

Sci-fi and fantasy anthologies would be good too! I know I'm including some of those to start. :-)

I've been watching this post since it first appeared and I can't help feeling envious that I don't live in the US to be able to join in :(

The box reached me today, a bit battered but intact. (Well, it *was* intact; my young cat Chess decided he wanted to chew on the corners, and he's been making so much progress that I expect I'll have to find a new box {wry grin}.) Will try and get the box moving again soon - just have to put my hands on all those anthologies of mine!

HAHAHA!!! LOVE this, GoryDetails. ; ) My apologies to you, and the rest of the participants here, if I have been the cause of any delay. Until today (10/8), my last opportunity to check my email was 9/26, just before the Veteran I take care of (a Summer Fisherman) returned from the mountains to stay now, and before I came down with the God awful virus he brought home for me, that I am still battling, so I was unaware that you (GoryDetails) had sent a first request for my address a week ago already, and am HAPPY you DID send a second "repeat message", as it was the first my email opened up to today. I've replied so that you'll be able to send the box off next week as you are hoping to. I've also PMd next in line, Spatial, to obtain the address I'll need to make a quick turn around of the Bookbox once it arrives. Winter weather and Holiday Mail, will be slowing the USPS mail system down before we know it!!! ; ) THANK YOU...ALL, for your patience!!! ; ) Wanted to post here not only to update, but also to move the thread up, in case there might be others who will want to join in. ; )

I mailed the box to BOOKWORMINUSALL today; estimated delivery 10/17, tracking # 9549 0121 0346 8283 1843 09. As the box is designated as a shrinking box, I took out two more books than I put in. My choices follow; stop reading if you'd rather be surprised!

Spatial DID respond with an address when I PMd last week, but is also in the middle of a move and did request that I PM again to verify if that address will be the best one for me to send the Box to once it arrived. I will PM to get current status, and hope to be breaking into the box on Friday to see what treasures it holds, make my selections, Journal Entries, & additions, & then perhaps send it off early next week. ; )

I'm terribly behind on my Bookcrossing responsibilities, so this box was NOT mailed out the first of this week as I'd hoped!!! ; ) I've been working through getting caught up this weekend, and know there were a few packages that arrived from several kind BCers during the past week, as well. I'll be making Journal Entries for my selections today, and getting the package ready for send off in the next few days. THANK YOU for your patience!!! ; )

Update: will go through the box over the holiday and get it moving right after.

🍁 🍂 Happy Thanksgiving! 🍂🍁

Happy Thanksgiving right back at you!!! ; ) Given the logistics we were trying to work with surrounding your move, Spatial, I'm happy to know you did receive the box, but disappointed to know about the inaccuracy of both what the Postal Clerk told me, and what my receipt read regarding the estimated delivery being 11/5. What an inconvenience for you.

For me, it’s not that bad. It was actually kinda comical. The package arrive 2 hours after I’d already left! But, the PO estimates are usually spot on so having one occasionally be late is ok. I’m more concerned that I’m holding it up for everyone else! :/

Mailed the box out to Chicvolley99 today! Estimated delivery date is 12/3.
