In 2012 I sent around the Medicine Chest III see http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/20/482978, 2013 saw Medicine Chest IV, see http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/20/496492. What about 2015? Well, how about Medicine Chaest V?
I have a whole shelf ready to go out. Here are the parameters, shamelessly copied from JudySlump612's original box
This box would include: - Books set in hospitals, clinics, other treatment centers - Characters involved in medical research, diagnosis, treatment - Plots involving medical issues - Histories of research, illnesses, treatment
Expanding that,I'm interpreting "Medicine" quite broadly. Veterinarians? Excellent! Galactic hospitals, like James White's Sector General? Terrific! Narratives of case studies, like Oliver Sacks or Berton Roueche? Absolutely! Discussions of those thorny issues? Great, as long as they're balanced and not trying to proselytize one view only.
[ETA: please post here when you get the box, and send it off. Thanks!]
As before, this is a varied fiction and non-fiction box. It'll be ready to go as soon as I finish Bad Pharma by Ben Goldacre. (100 pages left).
But..I'd prefer not to be too close to the beginning, please. It doesn't have to be the end, but most of what I have is still TBR. Gotta shuffle things around and start reading medical-ish instead of YA (box enroute to me), LGBTQ (box - I think I'm up next), states (challenge), and countries (challenge). :p
Thanks for the preview: I see one of my TBRs on that list so I won't plan on putting in that one.
Box sent 4/16, but I suppose from Florida to Hawaii is a pretty long distance for the box to go within the U.S.?
Media mail to & from Hawaii routinely takes about 3 weeks. I think they put it on a boat, and it must get unloaded last. There's usually no update for a while between the West Coast & Hawaii. (This is the norm - with no dockworker labor issues, although that seems to have settled down now.)
Things are sorta crazy here right now, but I'll get the box moving again as soon as I can. I'm hunting for a replacement box, because the current one, while still intact, has gotten a bit squashy. (Not wet, just soft.)
Also, my normal get-packages-to-the PO system is currently out of commission, so I might have to wait until Saturday.
The box arrived today after a nice long sea voyage (or at least I assume that's where it was) - and, with exquisite timing, it makes the third bookbox I've received in the last three days. Ain't it always the way? {grin} [Update: Turns out I've been asked to hold the box for a little longer than I usually do, due to vacation plans; it'll move out within the allowed 2 weeks, but everyone else in the list will have a little more time to catch up on their medicine-themed reading!]
I mailed the box today; hope it travels safely! The tracking info, and my selections, are in the bookbox journal's JE ( http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/12217873 ); if you'd rather be surprised, don't click!

The Medicine Chest Book Box arrived yesterday. I am trying to decide what to take out. It looks like I am the last one on the list. I'm guessing that means it will go back to quiet orchid. If so could you PM me your mailing address? Thanks!
I will be taking out Hurry Down Sunshine by: Michael Greenburg and adding Heaven Is For Real then sending it back to quietorchid. It was sent on it's way at the post office this morning. Happy travels!
