Checking for in a VBB for Horror, Sci-fi, Fantasy or Paranormal books. This would include fiction and "non-fiction" such as books about UFOs, ghosts, vampires, etc. I have several books in this category that I would be including. Any books in these categories would be acceptable.

I currently participate in booktogive's super Mystery/Thriller and General Literature VBBs and will use her rules for this VBB:

I ask each participant to offer 2 BOOKS AS SEED for the box to start.(You may seed with more than 2) After you commit to joining the box you would send me the titles/author/BCID numbers of the seed books. You will hang onto your two(or more) seed books until such time as they are selected from the VBB. Your 2 submitted books are for seed so if you select 2 books on your turn you will need to add 2 new books(not counting your seed books)

When it is your turn I will pm the list of available books to you. You will have 5 days to make your selections from the list. You then post on this forum post which books you are taking and which ones you are adding to the "box". Also pm me with the info as well, in my pm please include links or BCID#'s for the books you are adding. You may take as many books as you like and replace with the same number. You may include more books if you like.

You then pm the person holding the books you have selected and they send those books to you. The list then gets updated with the changes and moves to the next person who takes their turn.

ALL BOOKS must be registered at BookCrossing and a link provided to the journal entry.

Participants should be timely in mailing out their books once they are selected-within 6 weeks.

Each person will have 5 days to make their selections and additions. Players who do not respond in time will be bumped to the bottom of the list. After 2 times with no response they will be skipped unless they contact me about getting back in the rotation.

If interested, please post here and send me a PM with your seed books as described above. I am hoping to start this around July 1st if there is interest. I would also like to do multiple rounds if there are enough participants.

But this sounds like fun. Most of my stuff is older though. I really need to make a run to the store at the library as well as the thrift store...now, to just convince hubby to take me...;D

I did, too. With as often as I see fantasy novels on people's wishlists, I would expect there would have been a lot of interest. That's ok. If we don't end up with a large group, I can donate a few more seed books and we can kick it off with a smaller group. ;)

I also saw the box. I think some bookcrossers prefer having a physical bookbox to look through, however, I have had some bad luck with them. The last one I joined got lost with about 6 of my books in it. Also, the cost of shipping a whole box is a little expensive. I would still like to start this VBB but I will wait for at least a couple more participants..hopefully, others will join!

That's the way I see it too. I have had a few boxes that have been lost and with the costs of mailing I prefer the virtual BB. I hope you can get a few more to join.

I am doing the physical bookbox and would like to join this one too. I haven't had a chance to go through all my books yet. I've asked others to see if they want to combine our box. i'm not saying yes but looking into it.

This is the end of round 2. Not sure if I will continue with another round..interest seems to be waning. There were a couple of no responses in round 2 and a couple who wanted to be skipped. I don't think anyone requested any more of my books, but if I'm wrong let me know.

Perryfran: I would love to participate if you do this again. I tend to read more paranormal romance than the other types of books, so that's what I usually have to contribute. I run a few of these VBB's and I know it's not easy. I use Excel spreadsheets to help me stay organized.
