Thank you!!!
PMs sent to smhamn, jmsmom, heartthumper, and waterfalling.

Hopefully we will be able to get a small package together. Children's books were popular when we did a BookCrossing stall for the Colchester Free Festival.

This looks like a great event. Presumably you are aiming to give away a thousand books this year.

Thank you in advance! A thousand would be wonderful, but we'll definitely need help to get that many, so any books you can send will be gratefully journaled before being released.

Please do send by the most economical route - the festival is in mid-May so there should be time for seamail. :)

by surface mail and I believe candy-is-dandy is sending some too.

Hope they get to you in time and you make it to the thousand :-)

Just received your box today! Record shipping time, and it gave me a HUGE smile. I spent most of last summer (and a year or so of my life) just up the road from you. I'll be sure to say hello the next time I'm nearby.

Thank you so much for the books! I'm journaling them soon, and then adding them to the collection.

should be arriving 3/26/13.

...and ready to go in tomorrow's mail. Your mail carrier will hate me, but hopefully the kids and young adults at the event will be happy. I counted the release notes I made, and provided I didn't miss any in the box, there should be 88 books in there for you to share, a great majority of them children's and young adult books. There's a few for more mature audiences, but most of them are my son's "old" books. Oh, and I'll be just fine if you don't have the time to get all of them journaled before the event. As many as there are, I completely understand! Have fun! Hope this helps!

from Stephario: http://www.flickr.com/---/photostream

The box was repaired by the postal service along the way, so I'm not sure whether all the books made it here or not: I "only" got 76. Thanks so much!!

I can't tell from your picture what might be missing. The ones that I had packed flat on top are there, and at least most from the bottom layer (there were 3 layers) are there, so I don't know which ones are missing. Who knows though, maybe some kind postal worker will find them and donate them somewhere where they'll still get to continue on their journey. At least you received a majority of them, and that's something. Good luck and have fun with the festival. I hope the kids, teens, and even adults who get some of these books will be pleased with their finds.

So, I'm just curious! How many have you guys gotten so far for the big release? Have we gotten close to last year?

RE: Curious!

Hard to say: I've gotten 200+ in the mail, and it looks like allysther's gotten at least 35. I find that pretty amazing - you people are fantastic!

I haven't managed to journal all the ones I've gotten yet: there's a stack on the table in the living room waiting for me. So far I've computer-released (as opposed to physically released) 160 books for the festival, but that's nowhere near all of them.)

I still have to work on getting my own books ready for the festival, and World Book Night is looming too.

allysther & I have started "releasing" books to the festival zone already so there isn't so much computer work to do at the last minute, but it looks like ghir is just marking hers as reserved right now. Here's the link for the zone if you want to take a look at the books that will be there; at the moment 2013 goes from page 1 to part of page 11: http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/530049

PM sent.

edit: My box was mailed Wed. April 10th.

Meekachu07 & love2cook

I had a couple of days of browser trouble, so now I'm playing catch-up.

A Korean-language book that was languishing in Ireland has found its way to Hawaii. I'll try to find a new reader for it; thank you!

:)

I mailed a box today to allysther. Most were children's books. The post office says it should be there by May 1.

Thank you! I will keep my eyes open for the package. M stacks are not growing as quickly as hyphen8's stacks, but they are growing! I'm emptying whole shelves. This will be a fun day!

The post office was off by a few days. My guess is that the carriers were out celebrating Lei Day and the box was delayed. It is here now, though, and is filled with treasure! Thank you so much for sending the box this way, etheria!

If not, I have a box to send. Should I pm Allysther or hyphen8 for the address?
Great idea-thanks for the opportunity!

It is not too late! I will PM you now.

Thank you!
It is 3am. I'm off to get a few hours sleep. I stayed awake long enough to watch the numbers start to rise on the "go hunting" page. 73 are currently showing as released, and I am reasonably certain we made it to 1000.

Thank you to everyone in this thread!

If you have all them released to the zone it looks like 1093 books! Good Luck and may all of them write home!!

Please do take pictures of at least a few of the releases if you can. We'd love to see them fly off into the unknown! Congrats, and have a great time.

Thanks to all who sent books and who registered and journalled. It was lots of fun.

Link to some photos available on my profile.

1140 books!
When I checked after I got home this afternoon, the zone was showing 45 pages of 25 books each, plus 15 on page 46 - for today.

http://www.flickr.com/search/?...

All the books for kids, tweens & teens were very much appreciated, and we even found someone to take the Korean book and a bunch of the Japanese ones!

Looks like everything went so well! And thanks to both ghir and hyphen8 for the photos! So, when do we start getting ready for next year? ;-) J/K!!!!

You broke a grand in books?

Were there any left over?

RE: !!!
You broke a grand in books?

That's freaking amazing! ;D

Yeah, thanks to all of you. Did I mention that you are all fantastic?

Our gang was very pleased to have so many - and so were the people swarming around us checking out the books! It was great to have such a big selection of books for younger readers (kids/tweens/teens), and almost all of them went.

Were there any left over?

We gave most of them away, despite a lack of cooperation from the weather.

Started putting the books out around 10, but it started to rain 10:30-ish and stayed soggy for a little while (while we frantically covered up the books). Then it got sunny and the books (and people) pretty much dried out.

By 1:15 or so we were down to maybe 6 boxes..and it was starting to drizzle again. One of the banks runs a book swap tent (turn in 5 books, choose 5 others..and all extras go to Hawaii Literacy and Read to Me International at the end), so we took the last boxes over there just as it started to POUR. So we (and the books) narrowly escaped being completely drenched.

So far we've gotten 5 catches (besides the ones we took home ourselves).
