Ann Dominic
Artist Ann Dominic works as a freelance illustrator and designer. One of her more cherished commissions has been to volunteer for a nonprofit organization called POPISEED which helped underprivileged women in the arts and crafts industry in Bangalore, India. She illustrated their logo, designed their posters, tags and other merchandising material. She also enjoys working and interacting with children and finds that their sense of wonder informs her work in positive ways. While she also conducts art workshops, her time spent as an art teacher in a school was what she found most rewarding. She worked with children in all sorts of mediums (collage, paper-mache, oil pastels, etc.) for two years. She mostly works with watercolor pencils and Rotring ink on cartridge paper for smaller works and with acrylics for larger works on canvas. She derives a lot of inspiration from Kerala's vibrant culture – the kitsch colors of signboards and temple statues as well as the fold dance and art traditions the state is famous for. She can trace her slightly extravagant colors almost directly from there.
