New Zealand Teen finds BookCrossing in English Test

My story of coming to BookCrossing is, well, quite coincidental. I go to Waiuku College, and at the moment I am in year 11 (for those of you not from New Zealand, I'm in a year that a 15-16 year old would go to). I love playing hockey, but I also love reading. I have been reading since a young age, and I have never gotten sick of it. Anyhow, back to my story. My teacher had given us the option of entering a thing called "Australian Schools English Competition." I decided to enter, and sat for it on the 17th of May, 2004.

The test took an hour and fifteen minutes, and was quite interesting. There was analysis of different poems, stories and sentences. After reading the first short storey called "Morning," I turned the page to find an article titled "Books Unbound." I immediately started to read the storey of a BookCrossing member who told of how exciting it can be to release books into the wild. He then mentioned the even bigger satisfaction of receiving an email containing the message that your book has been found. This story motivated me to come to this site and join.

So far I have registered two books and I am looking forward to releasing both. I have referred a friend, been on the most recent new members list, and read the whereabouts of a book in my area. I then found this section which said I could submit an article. And so, hopefully, you will be reading the article which I submitted. It's sort of a coincidence though, as I had originally joined BookCrossing after reading an article about it. Maybe you will also read this article and feel the urge to join BookCrossing and release your book. And who knows --maybe you'll write an article, too.

Editor's Note: hundreds of Australian and New Zealand teens have joined BookCrossing as a result of its inclusion in the 2004 Australian Schools English Competition.
