In The News

August 11, 2005
src="http://www.not4u.nl/~bookcrossing/bookczuk/ExtraExtraBordermoem.gif" align=left hspace=5> Okay, we admit it. We're seriously thinking of changing the name of this feature to "In The British News". News items just keep pouring in from that part of the world, and the new members keep following. Let's see if we've got this right: following excellent articles in the national press, featured in the last newsletter, the UK has once again been treated to the sound of Ron's dulcet tones, this time expounding the benefits of BookCrossing on BBC Radio 2 during the very popular Johnnie Walker Drivetime show. In fact, so seductive was Ron's American accent that our site experienced a massive upswing in visitor numbers which required the Forums to be closed temporarily in order to cope! For those not in the know, BBC Radio 2 is the most-listened-to station in the UK, so it should be no surprise to see the membership numbers climb over the next few days. We know there were 685 new members that day, but have to get the breakdown from Ron how many were from the UK. If you'd like to hear Ron, the show is available via the BBC 'Listen Again' service here. Scroll through to 17:00 minutes to hear the piece from the start. And later on in the program, you can hear messages to Johnnie from some of our wonderful UK BookCrossers!

Then there was word that the London BookCrossers meet up was visited not once, but twice by the head of the 'Cool Hunters' company. For more on this and BookCrossing News elsewhere (some of it is very cool) click here.
