BookCrossing Video Contest: Win $250 and Wings for a Year!

November 19, 2010
Look out, Hollywood!
Move aside, Bollywood!
Make room for Ballywood!

Can you create a compelling video to cause curious book lovers to stop, drop, and join BookCrossing? We know how difficult it is to describe BookCrossing: the registering, releasing, and catching of wild books; the hunting, forum posting, and serendipitous community; the love, generosity, and sheer magic of it all. It’s a detailed process, and it can be a lot to absorb. When you visualize BookCrossing, what do you see? We’re looking for a 2-minute video that captures the brand, essence, and the act of BookCrossing - but the challenge is to create it without using words.

We want a global video, one that best represents BookCrossing in the universal language of imagery. This video needs to show the gist of BookCrossing (including how to quickly register, label and release a book) while portraying the overall joy, fun, and community feel of the site.

Prizes

The winner will receive a $250 Gift Certificate to the Supply Store, Wings for a Year, and may be showcased on the home page of BookCrossing. The first 10 submissions will receive two free months of wings, so get filming!

Guidelines

1. The running book logo may be used in any form (animation, claymation, a book label, cartooning, the website, etc.)
2. No spoken or written words are permitted; however, you may use the words ‘BookCrossing’ or ‘bookcrossing’.
3. The url, www.bookcrossing.com, must be used at least once and must include the running book logo with it.
4. If music is used, be sure you have rights to do so.
5. Limit any screen shots to 5 or less. Remember, although your submission must include how to bookcross, it’s mostly a broad overview of the site not a detailed ‘how-to’.
6. Total video length may not exceed 2 minutes.
7. Team entries are welcome.
