BookAid/BookCrossing Blitz in Britain

April 18, 2005
If you happened to glance at the sidebar for releases on April 18, you would have noted that there was a constant stream of titles heading out into the wild all over the UK: Hoping for Hope in Edinburgh, Holes in London, Hawksmoor in Kingston-upon-Thames, Scotland for Beginners: 1314 An' A' That in Wales,Caleb Williams in Belfast--the Go Hunting page in the UK was a mass of red numbers! Over 1,700 books were released bybookplate labels... the BCUK Yahoo group alone in support of Book Aid International's Authors' Association launch. Fifty authors, including Alexander McCall Smith, Ruth Rendell, Philip Pullman and Doris Lessing, were among thousands of people participating.

Many of the books released carried the wonderful BookCrossing 12th Edition bookplate: ‘Opening up the World through Books’, designed by No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency cover illustrator Hannah Firmin, which is still available (while supplies last!) at our Supply Store.

Congratulations to all who participated!!! You've done a grand job! We shall all sit back and watch as the releases and news reports pour in!
