Extended Profile

Hi there, thanks for dropping in!

The short story on me.(Well you only paid for the free version.)
I read compulsively and eclecticly. My favourite genres are History, Biography, Poetry...and throw in a little Sci/fi, Travel, Scrapbooking, Cooking.
OK, most books, though I don't read as much fiction these days. As they say life is stranger than...

I'm an Aussie, married with two daughters. One of whom has left the nest...although apparently we have to keep her room the same, like a shrine. I live in an old timber house with a tin roof and verandahs to shade the sun. There's a cat, a white picket fence (paint peeling) .......and a gum tree in the front yard.
Does that sound good. Yup, a bit like a real estate ad. Just don't check the dust levels, there are weeks that you could grow potatoes on top of my fridge.

I also herd a roup of Girl Guides (Scouts)through their outdoor adventures. It's not hard...the house has always been full of other peoples children. The difference is that now they actually listen to me!
...and I only have to stay one step ahead of them. Learn how to build a shelter with tree branches and gadget cord one week...teach it the next. Just think of me as McGyver.(...with a crown)

My bookshelf picture is John Tenniels illustration - Alice adjusting the White Queens shawl, tinted.
In Through The Looking Glass Alice tells the White Queen -
"One can't believe impossible things."
The White Queen replies-
"When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
Yep, gotta believe in impossible things. My husband believes I'm going to dust...one day. He's sooo funny.

What would I miss on a desert island? I know you didn't ask...but you wanted to, go on admit it.
News!...I have to know what's going on in the world!

2010 the Year of the Girl Guide - Our Centenary Year!

Notes To Keep Me Organised ...and for you to browse.

My younger daughter's bookshelf is found at pixelchic.
