"When you give someone a book, you don't give him just paper, ink, and glue. You give him the possibility of a whole new life."

By Christopher Morley, Novelist, Journalist and Poet

"We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about."

By Albert Einstein

Hello all.  My name is Tina and I am a non-recovering read-aholic.

I love reading!!!  My parents fostered a love of reading for my siblings and I at a young age by not having any TV's in the house.  We were taken to the library at least once a week or more, and were encouraged to go there on our own after school.

For birthdays and Christmas you always received books as gifts.  My favorite, that I still have, is the Laura Ingalls' Little House on the Prairie series.  I read those over and over as a child.

Due to my parents molding of my young mind, I rarely watch TV.  I prefer reading.  Plus books have the added bonus of having no commercials.

I tend to get rid of books immediately after reading them by either checking the "Wish List", or by setting them free somewhere.  However, if there is an available book listed that you'd like to read, PM me and I'll be more than happy to make a trade with you.

If I haven't responded to your request within five days, please assume that I never received it.  In that case, please email me directly at surmisez(at)charter(dot)net.

Books on my TBR list are also available for trade.  I will read the book you would like next and then send it to you.

My birthday is March 8th, and I love receiving surprise books.

If you need my address, I am listed on www.rabck.com under surmisez.

RABCK.com

What is RABCK.com?
RABCK.com is a website related to BookCrossing.com.  Inspired by what was happening there, Stefan Koopmanschap (skoopmanschap on BookCrossing) started working on this site. RABCK.com acts as a global address book for someone who wants to send a RABCK.  Obviously, if you want to receive a RABCK, that will mean you'll have to put your address into the database for people to find you.

Operation Paperback

Operation Paperback is a non-profit, grassroots program of family, personal friends and web friends who collect gently used books and send them to American troops deployed overseas.

Many of our troops are serving far from home and living in facilities that provide few of the comforts of home. There is very little for servicemen and women to do at the end of the duty day, and the opportunity to escape into a good book is welcomed. Every week we receive thanks from servicemen and women who are glad to be appreciated and remembered.

Our service members make sacrifices every day for our country. It takes so little to let them know that we appreciate what they are doing for us. When you join in Operation Paperback, you will let our troops know that you support them, and you have not forgotten them.

Please go to www.operationpaperback.org and share your books with our troops.
