"A good book is the precious life blood of a master spirit, embalmed and treasured up on purpose to a life beyond life" John Milton 1608-1674
I work in education and books have always been central to my world. Searching the dusty corners of second-hand book shops, collecting reading material for that special holiday time, reading the weekend book reviews or rifling the markets. Chasing those silk-trails. 'That book' is always just around the corner, and 'those books' pile up, thick with special memories. "Some books are undeservedly forgotten: none are undeservedly remembered" - W. H.Auden
Presently reading: The clash of Fundamentalisms -Tariq Ali, The illustrated man - Ray Bradbury
Waiting on the shelf: Grass for his Pillow: Tales of the Otari, book 2; Lian Hearn, The Crimson Petal and the White - Michel Faber, The Twelfth Dialogue - Tom Petsinis, Conditions of Faith - Alex Miller
Recently read: Journey to the stone country - Alex Miller, Resilience - Anne Deveson, The Chrystalids - John Wydham, Grand days - Frank Moorhouse, The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
Book ring: The Monkey's Mask : to Kellyhp, kernow8, Kymberlie, Wickedwordz, Jean-b (screen name changed to may-eve), fio-dagua.
"To feel most beautifully alive means to be reading something beautiful, ready always to apprehend in the flow of language the sudden flash of poetry"
Gaston Bachelard (1884-1962), French Philosopher
