Hi,
I'm Rossella. I got my name from a book. My parents loved "Gone with the Wind" and when I was born they gave me the name the heroine, Scarlett, was known by in Italy.
I learnt how to read and write when I was four and have loved it ever since. When I was in grade school I was eager to get the flu because I could stay at home and read in bed.
I have been a literary translator for 25 years and a teacher of literature and translation for too long to remember. Now I work as an art-counselor & books are still a great inspiration and tool in my life.
I share Erasmus's quote, "When I have a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes", which keeps one thin and fashionably minimalistic (though being Italian doesn't make me actually thin).
Till very recently it was almost impossible for me to part from my books. I would sit and mourn on the lent ones that never came back (so many of them!), but BOOKCROSSING has changed that all.
I heard about it in 2002. In May 2003 I "freed" my favourite translation, with the label designed by the Italian translators' network BIBLIT (I regret I didn't register it on the site). Then I don't know what happened but... slowly and surely I got hooked, and the last action of the past year was a thorough search in my library for the books that I could let free.
And their number keeps growing.
