Extended Profile
I am currently serving as chaplain and assistant professor of religion at Bryn Athyn College of the New Church, Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, USA.

I graduated from the University of Michigan (Ph.D. 1970), Wesleyan University (M.A.T. 1967), and St. Lawrence University (B.A. 1966). In 1978 I discovered a book by Emanuel Swedenborg in a library in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The book was titled Conjugial Love, and it described how one man and one woman could be brought together by God, and remain together as husband and wife forever. I had always believed this in my heart of hearts, but Swedenborg explained the spiritual dimension of marriage so clearly, and with such authenticity, that it felt as though I was reading revelation.

Six years later, after four years of theological school studies, I was ordained as a minister in the New Church (a Christian religion based on the Writings of Swedenborg). I have published two books, both with a Swedenborgian emphasis: Light in My Darkness (The Spiritual Autobiography of Helen Keller) and Rise Above It: Spiritual Development through the Ten Commandments,

My wife and I have been married for 28 years and have seven children. We lead seminars based on the Ten Commandments, emphasizing Swedenborg's heart-warming teaching that "All can be saved, in every religion, provided that they believe in God and live according to the Ten Commandments.

We look forward to meeting others through BookCrossing!
