Extended Profile
Olá!
My name is Raquel and I'll try to introduce myself
I spend my time
...writing, reading, postcrossing, listening to (world) music, watching cinema, travelling, couchsurfing, eating (especially sushi!), practicing yoga, learning how to surf, drinking tea (I'm a huge tea lover!), discussing politics, cooking, walking (barefoot), talking, breathing, smiling!
These are a few things that make me smile
...daisies, ballet, old books, good books, old towns, secret gardens, quilts, old bathtubs, old vespas, VW combis, swings, old bycicles, bridges, little music boxes, black cats, street lamps, accordions, a carrousel in the middle of a town, donkeys, lighthouses, solitary trees, alphonse mucha's art, vintage advertisements, good poetry, umbrellas, railways, snoopy...
As for my favourite books:
uff..so many... Just to name a few authors - Fernando Pessoa, Isabel Allende, Saramago, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Chico Buarque, Luis Sepulveda, Mia Couto, António Lobo Antunes, Haruki Murakami, Rui Tavares, Eça, Gonçalo Cadilhe, Bill Bryson, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Neruda, Espanca... and so on..
I can read in Portuguese, Spanish, Catalan and English. As for French and Italian, I can only read "easy-readings"... :)
I discovered this rating system in another BCer's profile and I will apply it in order to imply more justice while rating my books:
1* - Only red a few pages, total waste of trees...
2** - Red more than a few pages but didn't finish. Life’s too short to waste on bad books!
3*** – Major flaws, finished book, but more a chore than pleasure, would not recommend.
4**** – Indifferent, finished book, but wouldn't choose to read another by this author.
5***** - Average, not my cup of tea, others may find it interesting, though.
6****** - Slightly better than average, some interesting parts, would try author again.
7******* – Above average, would read this author again and recommend to others, depending on their taste.
8******** - Very good and enjoyable would definitely read this author again and recommend to others.
9********* – Very, very enjoyable, great book, would recommend to others!
10********** - Awesome, could not put it down, a pure delight to read, would actively recommend it to others!
