Hello,

My name is Kecia Rideout. I live in Taunton, MA with my fiancee, The Geeky Tech Guy, and our two cats, Hey! and Myia. (Hey! is the cat shown in my picture)

Special Update Sept 22, 2009. Please see section for New Zealand book donation.

I love bookcrossing, reading, knitting, crocheting and just being alive.

My wish list for the 2008 Holiday Season

  • Any chicken soup for the soul book for my ER Waiting Room Project
  • For you to send something to the Cangleska Battered Women's Shelter on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, then send me a message saying what you sent and why. It doesn't have to be complicated or cost a lot of money. An example- I once sent a bar of Dove soap because I love the way Dove makes me feel in the shower and I wanted to share that experience with someone who may need a little help feeling good.
  • Any book from my wishlist
  • Paperbackswap.com credits. My nickname is randomelement.

I have some pet projects that I work on in my effort to spend 15 minutes a day doing something that makes the world a better place. Right now I am working on three projects that I've listed below.

erwaitingroom

Ever since I had to spend 13.5 hours in an ER waiting room with nothing to read but two Cosmo magazines from the 90's, I've been releasing "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books in the waiting areas of Emergency rooms. Nothing is more painful then 13.5 hours of 90's fashion.

2007 released 41 CSFTS Books and 34 other books in ER
2008 released 42 CSFTS Books and 28 other books in the ER.
2009 released

knittingcangleska

Knitting items for Cangleska,Inc, a battered woman's shelter on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. In the 2007 Holiday Gift Exchange, I received lots of yarn and I'll creating items for many months to come. Look below for a slideshow.

MBaggraphic

Since circumstances prevented me from sending books to New Zealand as planned I have come up with a cheaper option which is affordable on my unemployment wages. First I will contact those who sent the books and offer options.

1) send books back to original sender
2) send books to various BC Conventions in the USA.
3) release the books locally

I see it as improving the world one deliberate act at a time. I'm journaling my adventure at Deliberate Acts of Kindness . I started my challenge in 2007 and I am looking forward to continuing it in well into the future. Update: My email address was stolen by hackers and google disabled it and both my blogs. Someday when time permits I will restart the blogs.

Take Care,
Kecia
