I have loved books since I first got my hands on one. A highlight of my childhood was the weekly trip to the library to borrow the limit allowed, followed by the letdown of finishing them all in a few days and having none left for the rest of the week. I'm still a compulsive reader, and can't let myself acquire new books if I have too many other responsibilities because I'll read to the exclusion of all else, even sleep. When I like an author, I'll go on a binge and read as many of her/his books as I can find. In my real life, I'm married to a great guy and have a grown daughter. I've worked in theatre, food service, publishing, insurance, and education, and have volunteered for many years with Girl Scouts. Other interests include travel, theatre, movies, knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking/baking, and supporting local sustainable agriculture.

Favorite "comfort food" authors: Elizabeth Goudge, Dick Francis, Rumer Godden, Noel Streatfeild, P.D. James, Dorothy Sayers, Tamora Pierce, Dorothy Gilmore, Josephine Tey, Ngaio Marsh, Anne McCaffrey, Louisa May Alcott

Recent "binge" authors: George R.R. Martin, Peter Lovesey, Denise Mina, Louise Penny, Jacqueline Winspear, Boris Akunin, David Mitchell, Tess Gerritsen, Sara Douglass, Jane Austen

Recent "big" read: The Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Kay Penman -- stumbled into my Game of Thrones binge soon after and was struck by the similarities.
