A LITTLE ABOUT NAT4LEE AND BOOKCROSSING

nat4lee is currently a student with four beautiful cats. It will take me a few days to respond to your private messages. All of my books marked "available" are just that, available. If there is a book on my bookshelf that you would like to read, do not hesitate to send me a private message. I am more than happy to post you the book you would like anywhere in the world. If your interest is in trading books, setting up bookrings, et cetera, I enjoy doing that as well.

I am part of "BCinDC" a BookCrossing group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BC_DC/ that meets monthly in the Maryland / D.C. / Virginia metropolitan area. See what we've been up to by clicking here or see below for upcoming BCinDC events:

29 Jan. 2011 -- BCinDC meets at the Rosslyn Cosi in Arlington, Virginia at 1 pm.

15-17 APR. 2011 -- BCinDC HOSTS THE 2011 10TH ANNIVERSARY BOOKCROSSING CONVENTION!

"BCinDC" is hosting the 2011 10th Anniversary BookCrossing International Convention, you can view information about the convention at http://www.bcindc.zoiks.org Please join us!

Why Bookcross? I release books in the hope that they may find another person who enjoys getting lost in a good book as much as I do. I want my books to leave people in good health and good spirits. I hope that reading will not become a lost art to the younger generation entering into a world becoming far more dependent on technology. I have no problem with anyone keeping a book they received from me or that they found ("caught") after I have left it somewhere to be found ("released" it). It is yours to do with as you please - keep, wild release, swap, give to someone as a gift, or whatever. All I ask is that you PLEASE journal the book when you receive it.

I have a few favorite authors. If you have novels by these authors that you are willing to part with, I will gladly trade with you! These people include: Mitch Albom, Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, William C. Davis, Parnell Hall, David McCullough, James M. McPherson, Allan Nevins, Jodi Picoult, James I. Robertson Jr., James L. Swanson and Harry Turtledove.

BOOKCROSSING IS FUN WITH BCinDC!

We are a group of BookCrossers that rotate meetings in the Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC area. Join us here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BC_DC/

This group is a discussion group for BookCrossers that are members of the online community at http://www.bookcrossing.com and you must be a member there to join this group. If you are interested in joining this group please include your BookCrossing screenname in the comments section of your membership request.

It happens that I had an accidental encounter with my local bookcrossers! Back in 2008, I had been a bookcrosser for a year or two, releasing maybe one book a month, thinking "Why am I the only one doing this thing?" Everything changed when I was at a local cafe in my hometown studying after my classes at the local college. This large group of a dozen people come into the cafe with large bags, laughing and dropping books left and right. Naturally, this gets my attention! I get up to ask them who they are, and it turns out that the monthly meeting of "BCinDC" was taking place! I got to see firsthand that there are *gasp* lots of good people releasing books right along with me in my town! I'm not alone! And best of all, we all release together each and every month, and that's exciting! The rest, as they say, is history!

[BOOKRING] "Absolutely Faking It" by Tiana Templeman

We aren't cultural Neanderthals, but I start to wonder how we'll cope in accommodation where everything is geared to those with champagne tastes, not a beer budget." Yep, that's definitely what I felt at the Westin. $8.50 for a bottle of water? About the same for an hour of internet access? I guess it's different if you have a significant amount of disposable income but those prices seemed exorbitant to me. I'd much rather spend that on a day's food or something. At times though I wished my budget did extend to upmarket places because the Westin was amazing! Like the author did at first, I struggle with the idea that a hotel can be a destination, but I'm learning it can be.

[BOOKRAY] "Double Cross" by James Patterson

With each murder, the case becomes increasingly complex. There's only one thing Alex knows: the killer adores an audience. As victims are made into gruesome spectacles citywide, inducing a media hysteria, it becomes clear to Alex that the man he's after is a genius of terror--and he's after fame. [BOOKRING] "The Haunted Bookshop" by Christopher Morley

A charming and entertaining novel that captures the romance of books and bookshops. "When you sell a man a book," says Roger Mifflin, protagonist of this classic bookselling novel, "you don't sell him just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue--you sell him a whole new life." The Haunted Bookshop finds Mifflin and his wife, Helen McGill, ensconced in Brooklyn, where they encounter some strange goings-on in their bookstore. The unraveling of the mystery provides a rollicking plot while allowing Mifflin (and Morley) to expound on the delights of reading and the intricacy of the bookseller's art.

[BOOKRING] "The Known World" by Edward P. Jones

In one of the most acclaimed novels in recent memory, Edward P. Jones, two-time National Book Award finalist, tells the story of Henry Townsend, a black farmer and former slave who falls under the tutelage of William Robbins, the most powerful man in Manchester County, Virginia. Making certain he never circumvents the law, Townsend runs his affairs with unusual discipline. But when death takes him unexpectedly, his widow, Caldonia, can't uphold the estate's order and chaos ensues. In a daring and ambitious novel, Jones has woven a footnote of history into an epic that takes an unflinching look at slavery in all of its moral complexities.
