Extended Profile

Welcome to my bookshelf. I registered on this amazing site after seeing an article in the Weekend Australian Aug 2003.
I am the other half of leith, he is a slightly reluctant bookcrosser although generally supportive of MY bookcrossing activities.

Bookcrossing has helped me to combine two of my favourite activities - reading and travelling! I have released books in Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Singapore, France, Sweden, England, Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Cuba, Croatia, USA, Malta, Ireland and Scotland and of course Australia as well .
I have been to International Bookcrossing Conventions in Christchurch, New Zealand, Washington DC and Dublin, Ireland. I missed the Amsterdam Convention when we got stuck in Edinburgh due to Volcanic Ash!

Melbourne will be hosting the International Bookcrossing Convention in April 2014.

One of my favourite books has become my signature releasing book - a book I love to leave in exotic destinations. So far I have had success with these two copies-
Dr Seuss's "Oh the places you'll go" at Machu Picchu, 17 years after dreaming of going there one day! ..and another copy this year at Dr Seuss Sculpture Park in Springfield, Massachusetts - two catches and two new members!

Wild releases caught: 132 @ 5th May 2012.
This is my longest catch to date -
Light on Snow

Some of my favourite wild release catches :-
Elmo Loves You
Daughter of Fortune
The Beach
Jonathon Livingston Seagull
An Angel at My Table
The Year of Living Dangerously

In my first three years of bookcrossing I read my age each year - since then I have stopped counting - hoping that I will stop getting older!

My wish list thanks to cliff1976
