the pic is of elf and twig on their first day of school

A Bit About Me: I love to read the classics, ancient and modern. Current loves are Patrick O'Brian boat books and Anthony Powell. Also have a current passion for pre-Tolstoy Russians; Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol. I have been trying to read more contemporary fiction with the help of my friends' and other bookcrossers' advice. A new love is Iberian literature. Returning to my heritage, I guess.

I teach language arts & social studies to 7th graders.

I have two children of my own. At bookcrossing they are know as elf (14) and twig (12). They go to a great little charter school of which I am the PTA president. I spend a good bit of my time there. Elf, Twig, and I like letterboxing, soccer and tennis. We rejoined the Y and swimming has become a big part of our life again. I swim laps and the children swim behind me in the lane. Elf says we look like a family of ducks. At home we love board games, watching the birds and wildlife in our yard, crafting projects, talking about books, and watching old movies. We take life on the slow lane for the most part. From our house we can walk to any place in Hendersonville that we really want to be, except for our favorite tapas place.

Then, there is the drum owner who shares a huge chunk of our life and to whom I am now married. He is our perfect complement. We are still in that state of grace where we all are in love with one another and can't imagine anything else. But adolescence is looming for two of us. So, who knows what the future holds. More of the same I hope. I'm steeling myself for that first "I hate you!" from the lips of one of my bairn. Realism, my friends!
