I am a professor of Zoology and study the behavourial and communication aspects of the African elephant. Originally, I studied gorillas in Rwanda as a grad student and had the pleasure of meeting Diane Fossey during a summer internship. A very challenging
line of work and so fascinating. I was drawn to shifting my studies to the elephant some 15 years ago after becoming immersed in behavioural linguisitics and psychology. My wife is a speech therapist and I have learnt so much from her and our adopted children.
We recently were travelling in India to liaze my research with Indian scientists studying the Asian elephant. It was a very productive trip and we met many interesting folk and even other bookcrossers journeying to the monument of love. What is a trip to India
without visiting the Taj Mahal?
My favourite books:
the source--James Michener
Cosmos--Carl Sagan
Lord of the Rings--JRR Tolkien
