Extended Profile
A person who has read to escape or to enjoy another life, as well as this one, for many decades.
From "Ladybird" and "Janet and John" through Enid Blyton's "Secret Seven" to Ransome's "Swallows and Amazons" and then... Iain (M) Bank's "Wasp Factory". Along the way... too many books to mention.
Became a sailor - thanks Arthur!
Went into the army - thanks Spike!
Left it - thanks Joe Haldeman, time was up but you had the tedium right.
But SF is the way to discuss present-day policies/trends and see what could happen without casualities or possibly politicians. Scary?
I enjoy short stories, novellas, novels and "blockbusters" - just keep me reading/interested in a story and I will keep reading/buying and pass that on to my children, grandchildren, etc. I think "we" have forgotten how to remember large chunks of information, but we now remember many book titles instead! Is that the way we will talk about Literature in the future?
Should I despair or use "spell check"?
