I have always had a passion for reading, which just seems to intensify as I get older. I don't buy a lot of my books, preferring to use my local library for loans. This is easy as its all online, and I can search and request books so that they will be waiting for me. I became aware of BookCrossing because my sister picked up a registered book while we were travelling overseas. What a great idea! Since joining I have released a few of my own books, although I cannot let most of them go. As I don't really buy a lot of books, the ones I have I treasure. I plan to buy secondhand books so that I can release them. If they look interesting I will read them first. I have also been 'hunting' for books, but so far no success. I am now always on the lookout for books laying around unattended though!

I will read just about anything, preferring 'literature', biographies, travel writing, history, popular science, food and cooking, architecture, etc. I get ideas for new books and authors from the library, bookshops, awards, friends, websites (BookCrossing now!), and the BooksAlive 'Good Read Guides'.

Books I have read so far in 2008:
The Memory Keepers Daughter, by Kim Edwards
Atonement, by Ian McEwan
Bangkok 8, by John Burdett
Never Change, by Elizabeth Berg
The History of Love, by Nicole Krauss
The Lord of the Rings, by J R R Tolkein
For Tibet, with Love, by Isabel Losada
My Desert Kingdom, by Jill Koolmees
Half of a Yellow Sun, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
On Chesil Beach, by Ian McEwan
