WELCOME TO MY BOOKSHELF

JUNE 19, 2012- MY EIGHT-YEAR BOOKCROSSING ANNIVERSARY !!
SO..... to celebrate eight years with BookCrossing, I've registered a few more books... enough to take me over the 500 mark. Plan to release ten books the weekend of May 11/12 in Prescott, AZ during BookCrosser KimKerry's FB & BC meetup.

25 November 2006 - wild release # 100 !!!
20 August 2008 - tell-a-friend referrals - hit the 100 mark!

Check out this great flash fiction web site , started by a bookcrosser.

THIS is my most favorite new member (not active) and journal entry for a "catch". It's pretty special.

STATS
43 out of 222 Wild Releases have been caught & journalled as of April 2012.
This is my favorite ; it just keeps traveling and this one

278+ (lost count somewhere) books mailed out as RABCKS or as part of a Trade

Here's where they went:
USA: (37 states as of August 2009)
AZ AL CA CO CT DC FL GA HI IA IL KS KY LA AR MD MI MN MO NC NE NH NJ NM NV NY OH OR PA RI SC TX VA WA WI WV PR DE

UK : England, Scotland
Canada : Ontario, Vancouver, New Brunswick, Alberta, British Columbia, Quebec
And, as far away as ... Portugal, Cyprus, the Netherlands, France, Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Argentina, Australia, Iran, New Zealand, China, Germany, Italy, SriLanka, Brazil, Finland, Uganda, India

My new favorite book (2011): Eat, Pray, Love. Just totally related to this woman and her take on life. Love her philosophies. Wish I had her adventurous spirit in regards to travel.

Books, BookCrossing & Me:
So what is it about BookCrossing I enjoy so much? There are so many bits and pieces:
I love the book club aspect of book rings, the altruistic facet of wild releases, the sharing part of RABCKS and trades, and of course the community feeling of the forums.

Generally speaking, I prefer books about women and books written by women; women and their perspectives just seem so much more interesting to me, in general, than men !! Broad (excuse the pun :) ) statement, but there you have it ! I particularly enjoy memoirs and biographies.
I go through phases with authors, which have included Jane Austen, Anne Rice, Barbara Kingsolver, Amy Tan, Leon Uris, Alice Walker, Carol Shields, Diana Gabaldon, Elizabeth Berg, Anita Shreve, Sunetra Gupta, Gail Tsukiyama, Nuala O'Faolain, Jhumpa Lariri, Anchee Min, Toni Morrison, and recently, Marilynne Robinson, Lisa See, and Tom Robbins.
One of the joys of BookCrossing has been the introduction to authors and book titles I might have otherwise left untried.
