My name is Mehdi El Hajoui, and I hail from Casablanca, Morocco. I am currently a first-year graduate student in the department of Romance Languages at Harvard University. Prior to coming to Harvard, I studied French (B.A/M.A) and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania (Class of 2003).

While my research tends to focus on 19th-century French literature, I am interested in various other literary traditions - including Germanic (Mann, Hesse, Zweig, Kafka), Francophone Carribean (Confiant, Cesaire, Chamoiseau, Conde, Glissant) and Irish (Joyce, Beckett).

I am a voracious reader, and I had been looking for a way to share my interest with others for quite some time now. book crossing looks like an interesting alternative to book donations, and includes a nice social dimension to it.
