The rating system…
I've often felt that my rating system is a little bit random, how do I distinguish between a 6 or a 7 or a 7 and an 8 for a book. I've just found this on lmn60's bookshelf so I hope it's okay that I've stolen (and slightly edited) it!

This rating system applies to books rated after Feb 14th 2006.

10: Excellent, at the top of its category. This book has impacted me deeply, challenged me profoundly, or has simply been a pure delight to read.
9: Great book - definately one to recommend, and one I want to share
8: Good, solid book that I would recommend to others.
7: Good book.. not necessarily one that I'd re-read but I would probably recommend to others
6: Decent, but not for me. Maybe somebody else would like this. I didn't hate it but wouldn't recommend it and didn't enjoy it.
5: Only just OK.
4: Barely worth reading. The line between taking it and leaving it is very thin.
2-3: Has major problems. I don't recommend it.
1: It's hard to imagine anyone liking this book. I didn't finish it!
