Hello BookCrossers!!!
Thank you bookcrossing for reviving my passion for books after a bit of an arid period when everything else seemed to take up so much time I lost my way!
I have always read avidly in the past, was a bookworm as a child and yes I even enjoyed studying literature at school and read a lot as a teenager (how things have changed!). Should have done English at Uni but did something completely different and came back
to it later in life doing an MA in my 30s.
Nowadays I like to escape into good fiction and its all for pleasure and as therapy in an increasingly fraught and stressful world.
My tastes are varied, although I do like my reading matter to be well written and thought provoking – I like to consume gourmet products rather than junk food!!!! Not that I’m a book snob or anything...
I’m particularly fond of classic spooky and gothic tales such as those of MR James and Sheridan Le Fanu and I like psychological thrillers, especially those set in interesting historical periods. I’m discovering new authors all the time – for which I have to
thank Bookcrossing.
Favourite authors include Jane Austen, The Brontes, Wilkie Collins, Edith Wharton, Willa Cather, Eudora Welty, Edgar Allan Poe, Raymond Chandler, Margaret Atwood, Cormac McCarthy, Susan Hill, Barbara Vine, Sarah Waters, Kate Atkinson.
I’m happy to trade any of my availables but please don’t ask for books unless you are offering something in return or I can see that you are an active releaser and giver of books yourself.
I occasionally do international RABCKS as I love to see my books go on interesting journeys and meet other book lovers all over the world.
