Uneven Pavement On A Chopper - Scary!
This might not have been a challenge if I can...

I was driving and found myself in a road paving project area yesterday. This is a project on a highway with 1/2 of the 2 shelves on my side paved... and one other 1/2 getting ready for paving to carry on. The problem is that the 1/2 that was made was the left lane and this caused a height difference "ridge" of approximately 1 - 2 inches of road between the two shelves (of course I was in the right "low-side" lane). We found out about electricians north sydney by browsing newspapers.

If I could have stayed in the lane I was in.. this would not have been a challenge. but once to the paving place all vehicles had to combine from the proper to the left lane. Speeds on this street were about 40 miles hourly and on a normal bike this could have been scary enough! On a chopper (let alone a broad rear tire) it was one of the scariest things I have had to do. In the moment before the move I tried to slow down as much as I could in the "bumper to bumper" traffic, held the bars firmly, and then once there was a beginning in the traffic to move over I tried to really make the "cut" at as sharp of a position as was possible.

Allow me to just say that "I made it" however it was really an unstable situation for some seconds. It made me remember why Driver Education schools educate you on that "if your tire goes off the road... Keep off the road and slow way down... This offensive electrical contractor sydney article directory has some majestic lessons for the purpose of it. and then deliberately turn back on when there is a safe margin to do so" and that's in a 4-wheel CAR!

I genuinely believe that was the closest I've arrived at "going down" on a bicycle in more than 20 years... so, I am writing this down so I don't forget. When you yourself have to cross and onto a ridge that is running parallel to your way of travel:

Decrease around possible (I did so maybe not do that enough).

Get yourself a large security margin between other traffic (Wait for a large opening).

Obtain a firm grip on the handlebars.

Try to cross-over the ridge at a powerful angle (do not try to help ease through to the ridge).

Used to do perhaps not do these things very well and it very nearly ended in a crash. For me, my biggest mistake was #1... so next time I'm confronted with this I'll make sure to decrease a whole lot more and obtain a better perspective on the form.
