Extended Profile
I've enjoyed reading since I knew such a thing was possible! I read mostly fiction with a few biographies and things like The Perfect Storm, Into Thin Air and books by Bill Bryson, Peter Mayle and P.J. O'Rourke thrown in for good measure! Okay, so maybe
I'm a bit more eclectic than I first thought. Once I find an author I like, I go through his/her works as quickly as possible.
When I travel outside of the country (which is as often as I can manage/afford it) I'm always on the look out for English translations of books by native authors. I also enjoy looking for children's books in translation (I have several versions of "Where's Waldo?"). They make such great gifts for my nieces and nephews - not to mention for a friend who teaches kindergarten/first grade. And in some cases, whether it's an adult or children's book, I sometimes find myself buying it in the original language.
There's just something about book stores - in any country! (If there's coffee near by, that's even better!)
I was fortunate enough to be able to join a book club about 4 years ago.
Great books and great friendships - who could ask for more?!
