Hi
This is ALLI's mum filling in her details. We lost our beautiful Alli to Cancer on 28th March 2003 after a brave fight. She was a wonderful artistic person, full of life and spirit. She will be sadly missed by her family and her partner. We will continue to release books that she enjoyed into the wild so if you find one please remember it is special, enjoy, look after it and let us know your feelings about it.

If you want to send a message to me, go to Alli's friends. I am Whitestar and Karen TW is her sister!

On January 18th 2004 we are planting over 300 trees at a site in the Moors Valley country park in Dorset, England, to form a living memorial to Alli. This will also become a favourite spot to release books, as you will see! The area is not marked by a plaque or anything as we wanted it to remain as natural as possible but if anyone visits it is near a place called Potterne Wood and you may spot some stars in the branches!

As a further memorial, we are delighted to tell you that there is now a BookCrossing label with a portrait of Alli done by Patrick Yesh. We cannot thank Patrick and Heather enough for helping us to create this beautiful memory. So, if, by some serendipitous happenstance, you catch a book with an Alli label, released by us, you have something REALLY, REALLY SPECIAL and we would love to hear from you. (And you will find we have left some of her stars, between pages 22 and 23, because Alli only made it to page 22.) With all our love, Alli's family.

We have received many lovely messages from people across the world but this poem was the result of the first wild catch with Alli's own label and the writer, DonnaRaskin, has allowed me to share it with you:-
Allie I didn't even know you
A woman named Debbie gave me your book
It's called 84 Charing Cross Road
I picked it up; that's all it took.

I couldn't put it down
I read it cover to cover straight through;
Allie I didn't even know you
I love the stars on page 22.

I'll read it again for both of us
Lord knows you should hear the rest
Or was that you standing over my shoulder
As I laughed out loud at Helene Hanff?

I feel this strange connection
I felt like writing you this poem
Your friends and family were fortunate
I met you be happenstance just not in human form.

I'll continue to circulate your books
As it seems to have been your dream.
And when I go to England
I will visit you in your forest pristine.
