Bookcrossing DB for your Palm

If you have a Palm and would like to use it for keeping track of your bookshelf, I've created a template which might help. It is written for MobileDB (.pdb file) and can be downloaded for free by visiting MobileDB.com.

About My Bookshelf

You might notice that I have a large selection of books in the "reserved" category. The vast majority of the books in that category are ones that I'm using as a part of a women's studies project. Most have been read by me, but I'm keeping them around as reference. Still, if there is something on there that you really want to read, please feel free to request it. Chances are that I'll be willing to send it on to you if you promise to return it to me once you've finished. The same goes for my TBR pile. If you see something there you really want to read, go ahead and request it. I will either send it on with a request for it to return, or will move it to the top of my stack and send it to you once I'm done.

I've designed a few items thus far for wild releases. All of these are PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files. If you have not already, you'll need to download the Free Reader.

GAGA promo

Go GAGA (again) With Me!! You're invited to come along on 'The Great Get Away Give Away 2006.' Here's what you do:

  1. Grab several registered books
  2. Slap this label on them (or the black & white version)
  3. Toss them into your favorite backpack or suitcase
  4. Hop in your boat... or in your vehicle... or on your bicycle... or in a plane...
  5. Head out in search of adventure
  6. Release books all along the way & feel free to use the above graphic in your release notes

Ahhhh... doesn't that feel good?

  • Geocaching 1 These labels were designed especially for those who like to mix their Bookcrossing with their Geocaching pleasures. They are full color and set up for Avery 8154 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet). The Groundspeak Geocaching Logo is a trademark of Groundspeak, Inc. Used with permission.
  • Autumn Seasonal Label These labels feature a tree with books as fruit/leaves. They are black and white and set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet).
  • Ballycumber on a snowy night These are seasonal for winter -- starry night, evergreens and Ballycumber crunching through the snow. The link above goes to a full-color label, but there is a black and white version available. They are set up for Avery 8164 (1-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet).
  • Can You Spare Some Time? These labels feature a cute little doggie (and the Marx quote) and are my new favorites. Black and white, set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet).
  • Large Fantasy-Themed Book Plate (Dragon) These are quite large and are set up to print three to a letter sheet of paper. They are full color (I can print them easily on my inkjet) and can either be taped into the cover, or printed on the full sheets of contact paper for quick labels.
  • The Great EscapeThese are full color and set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet). The background is a beach with a book at the bottom. The focus is on running away with good book.
  • Oh Baby! These are full color and set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet). The focus is on one of the cutest little readers you've ever seen. They'd probably work great in books on parenting, pregnancy, etc.
  • Born Free! These are black and white (hint: let your kids color them) and set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet). They feature a fellow falling through the air with a large book as his parachute.
  • Kiddo Stick Figures in Color (By request) These are set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet) and are full color.
  • Kiddo Stick Figures in Black and White (By request) These are set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet) and are black and white.
  • General Book Plate These are set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet) and are black and white.
  • General Book Plate Revisited A second design set up for Avery 8164 (3-1/3" x 4" - six per sheet). These are also black and white.
  • Romance Themed Book Plate (Hearts & Lips) These are done in color, but should adapt easily to black and white. They are 4 inches by 6 inches (intended to be imported and used on 4x6 labels such as Avery 8663). In addition to the PDF, you can also download the JPG or TIF files. One of these two would probably be easier to place in Word or other template applications.
  • Small BCID labels These are set up to print perfectly on OfficeMax #86110 Ink Jet Labels (1" x 2-5/8" -- 30 per sheet). I'm guessing there is also an Avery number, but I don't know it off hand. This sheet alternates two labels which I use on every wild release: "It's FREE & FUN! You don't have to register or join anything - You can remain ANONYMOUS!" (placed near the book plate label) and "www.BookCrossing.com -- READ & RELEASE -- BCID: _____________ (placed on the very last page of the book).
  • Various Small Labels These are set to print on the same OfficeMax labels described above. There is one column (5 labels each) of those described above. The remaining two columns contain various labels I use for wild releases (most feature Ballycumber):

    • TAKE ME HOME! -- I'm a BookCrossing.com book
    • LIBERATED LITERATURE -- Released by BookCrossing.com friends
    • FREE BOOK on the loose -- BookCrossing.com
    • I am a very good book. Please take me with you. I promise to behave.

It seems I'm always designing something. When I get around to designing more Book Crossing labels and items, I'll post them here.
