I learned to read before I went into school - had to, really, as I was the only person in the house who couldn't read. Have almost always read pretty much anything I could get my hands on - including ingredients lists on cereal boxes when there was nothing
else to hand! In the days when children under 12 were allowed to borrow 5 books every 2 weeks out of the library, my older brother (2 yrs older) was the first to be allowed to borrow ten, the same allotment as an adult reader. I was the second. We read each
other's when we'd exhausted our own supply. My taste in fiction is as wide and varied as my taste in food, and I used to belong to a great book club but had to stop buying books because I ran out of places to store them!
