Skiing, white-water rafting, biking and hiking, gardening; I love living in the pacific northwest, especially the dry side. I love watching my grandkids grow. Favorite place to read: in my hammock when it's hanging from a couple of trees along the bank of the Deschutes river, best when camp is near a small rapid burbling in the background, the air a gentle caress and the birds singing thier joyful songs.

I like a variety of genres: literature, fantasy, historical novels, mysteries but not the blood and gore kind, books that explore relationships, chronicle the protagonist's growth, just about anything with good character development.

Some of my all-time favorites are the Lord of the Rings, Mists of Avalon, books by Anita Shreve and Barbara Kingsolver.
