While you are visiting, you should also check out my BC support site called Wren's Crossing. It is full of faqs that aren't covered in the BC question page-sort of an "Everything you ever wanted to know about BookCrossing but were afraid to ask!" sort of place. It also has pages for various themed release ideas, like BC-er's birthmonths and a calendar of special theme days and author's birthdates, plus any other fun or interesting things that occur to me. While you are there, you can also share pictures of your pets and your favorite recipes. You can find all this and more at Wren's Crossing
When I list my hobbies, reading is always listed first. One of my mother's most repeated phrases when I was growing up was, "It's a beautiful day--put that book down and go outside." I did, but as often as not, I took the book with me! I'm one of those people who read cereal box labels if nothing else is handy!
I believe that one of our greatest national successes is that of having a library in almost every town! The world is a better place because the libraries allow us all to share books--and now, BookCrossing.com has added a new dimension to that.
Finally, I love hearing from BookCrossers. I have a standing offer to help any bookcrosser re-size an image for their profile page. You can send it as an attachment to me at wren at texaswren dot com. If you have a question, idea for my site, or want to share a birthday, pet, or recipe, send me a PM or an email. I look forward to hearing from you!
Concerning trades: I am willing to consider them, however, please don't be offended if I say no. Sometimes, I don't have the time or money to do it. Sometimes, I forget to make release notes, so a book may show up as available, when in reality, it was released. I never know until I search for the book. I am organizationally challenged. ;-)
Other than BookCrossing, the thing nearest and dearest to my heart is Hill County PawPals, a local grass-roots group trying to get an animal shelter built in our county. The only hope abandoned or stray animals have now is a very small, dedicated group of foster families. We are trying to raise the money to build a shelter and have a formal adoption program, along with space for our current spay/neuter clinic.
