Extended Profile
Hyphenated married lady - left-handed who likes to crochet to relax and uses home computer every day. Have read since age four and started to use Toronto Public Library through school trips. Taken to adult section at age eleven by librarian who said I had read all books in children's section. Not quite an accurate statement though I had read all books in which I was interested. First adult books I read were by Tolkein, The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. Honestly, these were more complicated than I was ready for so read them again in teen years and again in early twenties. Have passed on my much-dogeared trilogy pocketbooks to my niece who lives in nearby community since relocating to small town in Summer 2002. Then moved to larger apartment in same town in early 2003. Have worked my way through Mysteries and Biographies and Fantasies and some Westerns. Only completed grade twelve to finish high school so do not consider myself up to reading more involved science fiction or non-fiction. In recent decades, have collected most of works of favourite authors so I can read them again (John D. MacDonald, Wilbur Smith, Louis L'Amour, Dick Francis, J.R.R. Tolkein, JanWillem Van De Wetering, Nevil Shute, Helen MacInnes, Elizabeth Gouge, Mary Stewart, Cecilia Bartholomew, Mary Higgins Clark, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Catherine Cookson, Andre Norton, Anne McCaffrey, Barbara Hambly, Mercedes Lackey - to name just a few.) Have read some of these authors when I was branching out as both my reading parents liked them. In recent years, get to read some of my husband's collected works of his favourite authors then return them to his shelves. Do still have collection of pocket books which I can pass around. Have donated some 'reference-type' books to the local Public Library for them to keep. As eldest of large family, have given books as gifts for many years. I tell my family and friends about BookCrossing whenever I get the chance. From reading Email 'threads' sent by other members of BookCrossing from around the world, I have learned about registering some books to pass on to my family or friends to give them an actual introduction to BookCrossing -- so they can Read the book, make a Journal Entry at the BookCrossing website, then Release the book again to be found by another reader. Thank you kindly for letting me join in this marvelous adventure.
