Extended Profile

I am the Bookcrosser formerly known as rmjwold.

I am Australian, married to oozy67 and we have one adult son and daughter in law, and a beautiful little granddaughter. My passions are travel and books, which is why I love Bookcrossing.

My future trips include two short cruises in November and December 2017, a cruise to the South Pacific in March 2018, a trip to Hong Kong and Japan in May, and back to Europe in September / October for a tour and cruise to the Canaries and North Africa. I hope to attend the 2019 Convention in Mainz, Germany, will see if it can fit in with a cruise in Asia that I already have planned for March/April 2019.

The countries I have visited on my travels include New Zealand (6), Fiji, Vanuatu (2), Noumea (2), Singapore, Malaysia (2), Thailand (2), USA (7), England (2), Canada (3), Wales, Scotland (2 - Shetland Islands), Northern Ireland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Russia (2), Japan (2), Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico (2), China, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, Falkland Islands, Antarctica (Paradise Bay and Deception Islands), Ecuador (Galapagos Islands), South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Mauritius, Iceland, Norway, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Montenegro, Malta, Croatia, Slovenia, Monaco, the Vatican, Cambodia, Vietnam, India and Nepal.

I love visiting the United States and have been to 36 states so far. My goal is to visit each one. I have also travelled extensively in Australia, but luckily there is always more to see - this is a very big country.

CONVENTION (and UnConvention) LIST
Sydney, October 2010
Wellington, NZ November 2011
Canberra, November 2012
Melbourne, April 2014
Auckland, November 2015
Athens, April 2016
Darwin, July 2016

__________________________________________________________________________
30 October 2017 - released a book in Nepal, a Lonely Planet book on Kathmandu. Had a fabulous three weeks touring India and Nepal.

22 November 2016 - back from a tour of Cambodia and Vietnam, wow! Amazing countries with fascinating and sad histories. I was so busy I only read one book on the trip.

20 July 2016 - returned from the Darwin UnConvention, which was fabulous. Great weather and great friends. We hired a car and spent a night at Litchfield and two nights at Kakadu, then four in Darwin city. Released a swag of books and picked up about four. A wonderful week in the Top End.

21 May 2016 - back from a fabulous trip to the Mediterranean including a great time at the Athens Convention. The Athens Bookcrossers were are wonderful and friendly bunch.

16 November 2015 - spent a lovely three days in Auckland for the UnConvention. Was great to see old friends and catch some great books.

14 October 2015 - returned a week ago from a six week trip to UK, Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, Canada and the USA, where we toured Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont. Six more states to add to the list.

24 June 2015 - I have finally read all of the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. At least until number 22 is published later this year. I have mixed feelings about the books, the lead character is incredibly stupid and is one of the worst female characters you can imagine. But the books are funny and keep you entertained. So I guess you could say I have a love-hate relationship with the books.

10 May 2015 - returned from a wonderful cruise on the Queen Mary 2 to South Africa, followed by a safari tour which included Kruger, Victoria Falls and the Okavenga Delta. We saw a huge range of animals, such a fantastic experience. We passed a couple of books to a fellow traveller who was spending several weeks in South Africa and Namibia following the cruise.

23 February 2015 - had dinner at King O'Malleys pub tonight with Bill (Billbooks) and Greg from Melbourne, and Goldenwattle. Was nice to meet up with some out of town Bookcrossers.

23 December 2014 - my 50th birthday cruise is complete. I received only one book (a record!) and I didn't release any on my travels. I did bump into that famous Melbourne Bookcrosser MeganH in Melbourne though, was a lovely surprise.

26 November 2014 - LadyIndigo has sent a large parcel of fabulous books for the Canberra BX Christmas lunch which is being held at my home in Monash on 29 November. Thanks for thinking of us :-)

13 April 2014 - Back from the Melbourne Bookcrossing Convention - a wonderful three days with some crazy people! Released a stack of books, and brought about 5 home, plus bought about 4 new ones from the guest authors.

12 March 2014 - Back from a fabulous 5 & 1/2 week trip to South America, Antarctica and the Galapagos Islands. Only left one book on our travels, which was picked up by a new reader.

17 November 2013 - I have been back for two weeks following a six week trip to the US, Hawaii, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, New Zealand and a trip up to Port Douglas, Queensland for a family wedding. Life is busy! We left a few books on the Celebrity Solstice and some have been journalled so that is exciting :)

9 April 2013 - Just completed a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef. Was wonderful, Oozy67 left a few books on the boat but none have been journalled as yet - fingers crossed! I have hardly read anything this year, and what I have finished I have forgotten to record here. Has been a busy year so far.

25 Dec - 1 January 2013 - had a wonderful week in Perth WA. Didn't leave any books though.

16-18 November 2012 - UnCANvention! We had a wonderful weekend welcoming bookcrossers from Austria, New Zealand and all around Oz to Canberra. Lots of fun!

16 October 2012 - Returned from a tour of Western Canada, and a cruise from Vancouver to China via Alaska, Japan and Russia. Was fabulous!

8 July 2012 - Spent the first week of the month in Sydney. Passed a Jodi Picoult onto my sister, which will hopefully do the rounds of the family. Oozy67 left one at the Canberra Airport.

April 2012 - just got back from a weekend at the Gold Coast, QLD. Great weather. Passed two books to some friends who are living in Papua New Guinea - so who knows where they will end up. Oozy67 left some books at Canberra Airport.

March 2012 - the Australian UnCanvention dates have been announced - 16-18 November 2012 - looking forward to welcoming all to Canberra!

18-20 November 2011 - heading to New Zealand for the Wellington UnConvention with Oozy67 - looking forward to it!

7 November 2011 -Back from a trip to the US southern states and Panama Canal cruise. Left a few books on our travels.

27 August 2011 - spent an afternoon with Auzikaz and the Canberra bookcrossers at King O'Malley's Pub in Civic. Picked up a lot of books.

25 January 2011 - just returned from a holiday in Adelaide and Port Lincoln. Oozy67 left a few books at the Canberra airport (his first wild releases) and one was jounalled! Must be beginners luck.

3 November 2010 - had a great time at the Sydney UnConvention and at the dinner, after too many beers, agreed to attend the Wellington UnConvention in November 2011!

Heading to the Sydney UnConvention on 22-24 October! Looking forward to my very first one :)

30 July 2010 - back from a big trip to Europe - had a wonderful time! Released two books in Plymouth but didn't get much reading done at all, too busy seeing all the sights.

31 March 2010 - Many thanks to Carole888 for the pack of books :)

24 October 2009 - my first wild release has been found in Washington State - it took almost two years!

27 September 2009 - met up with the Canberra bookcrossers yesterday in King O'Malley's pub. Was great to meet you all.

9 August 2009 - I have just returned from a trip through the US from New York to Los Angeles. Caught up with the wonderful Dr Slump612 and JudySlump612 in Minneapolis for dinner. Thank you for your hospitality and for all the books! Was great to meet you both.
