"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." -- Gandhi

“All the suffering in the world comes from wanting happiness for one’s self. All the happiness in the world comes from wanting happiness for others.” - Shantideva

"Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace." -- Albert Schweitzer

"I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness or abilities that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again." -- William Penn

"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense."
- Buddha

"If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday." --Pearl S. Buck

"If I could do one thing with the world, I'd turn the entire human race into empaths. Make everybody feel everyone's pain. If we could all truly empathize with each other, there would be an immediate end to most human misery. Famines would stop as rich countries fall over themselves to send aid ..."

Beware of a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.

Marriage is love.

I love BookCrossing; it's the perfect site since I'm an admitted book addict. My household doesn't share my addiction, but tolerates my eccentricities with a watchful eye as I fill our home with more and more books.

I enjoy trading books so if you see something on my Available bookshelf that interests you, let me know and maybe we can work out a trade. My preference at this time is to trade for books on my wishlist. Unless you are someone I already actively trade with, I prefer that I receive the book first before sending since I have had the unfortunate experience of people who do not send their side of a trade or feel it's okay to wait a month or more. I use media mail when mailing books in the United States. Don't ask for any TBR books -- they are not available for trade.

My goals Mt TBR with priority given to books received from other BCers, and continue to RABCK as many books as I can afford to.

I'm not setting a goal for number of books to be read since this is such a crazy time in my life. I'd like to set a RABCK goal, but again -- this is just a strange, difficult time for me so I'll just set as a goal to RABCK as many as possible. For 2006, my goal was to RABCK 25 books and I'm pleased that I exceeded that with 62 actually finding their way to new readers. I think RABCKing is one of my favorite activities so I hope to be able to do as well this year, and hopefully surpass last year's number. If you see any of my available books you'd like, just PM me and I'll send it your way if I'm able.

Your brain is always looking for the connections in life.

You always amaze your friends by figuring out things first.

You're also good at connecting people - and often play match maker.

You see the world in fluid, flexible terms. Nothing is black or white.
