Extended Profile

I'm currently living in Aberystwyth but grew up in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. I came to Aberystwyth University to study geography and decided to stay once I'd finished my degree (as most students here tend to do). I was working as a nature reserve warden but was made redundant at the end of September '08. I'm currently back to being a part-time student.

Other interests include rollerblading (very painful), cross stitch, reading (of course) and sitting on my boyfriend's computer all the time while using Bookcrossing!! He moans because he never gets to use the computer anymore but never mind.

Why did I join Bookcrossing?
I saw the website mentioned in a magazine / newspaper article and decided to check it out. Like a lot of people I became addicted in a very short time. However, after a while I kinda drifted away from the site. I found the idea for a book journal here on a forum and that seemed to take over. I've now finally gotten up-to-date with my journal so I've returned to Bookcrossing.

Book Interests
Mostly crime, thrillers and humour/cartoon books such as Garfield, although I do read other things as well. I also read some children's books, especially series like the Hardy Boys and the teenage X-Files series that I collected when I was younger. I'm still aiming to complete these series. My bookshelf does reflect my personal reading tastes, although sometimes I will read a book I don't like. As this will still be added to my shelf, my journal entry is the best way to tell whether or not I liked a book. I'm currently reading books from my permanent (unregistered) collection as well, so progress through Mount TBR will be slow.

I use this system - borrowed from florafloraflora amongst others - to rate my books:

10: Excellent, at the top of its category
9: Great book - just a nitpick stands between it and a 10
8: Good, solid book, worth rereading
7: Good book, but I wouldn't read it again
6: Decent, but not my type of book
5: Only OK. Barely worth reading. The line between taking it and leaving it is very thin.
4: Maybe somebody else would like this. I didn't.
3: Has major problems. I don't recommend it.
2: Has major problems. I recommend you don't read it.
1: It's hard to imagine anyone liking this book." target="_top">free web ALIGN="middle" HSPACE="4" VSPACE="2">" target="_top">free web counter
