Greetings and Welcome! Thank you for visiting My BookShelf and Profile Page!

Yes, my Profile pic really is a photo of my knees - but not close enough to see the scars! (LOL!)

I haven't done much to my Profile since the Big Site Changeover, not wanting to mess it up, but I think I've done enough that it's more or less up to date!

I had a totally wonderful weekend at the UK Unconvention in Swindon, October 2010 - and then did it all over again in Nottingham, September 2011 ...... It was great to meet so many wonderful BookCrossers :-)

BCUK Unconvention, Nottingham 2011, I'll be there!

My thanks to all the clever people who've made the logos on this page and allowed me to use them. Personally I wouldn't have a clue where to start!

******************************************************************************************************************

The logos below show how disappointed I was that I didn't make it to the Amsterdam Convention, April 2010! I still can't believe an Icelandic volcano caused such havoc and left me sulking at home when everyone else was enjoying themselves! Well, no, to be honest, I did find other things to do instead (grin!)....

There's not a lot to say about me. My books are more interesting than I am! I'm retired and my husband has now joined me in that state! I enjoy having lots of lovely time to indulge my love of reading. He's not a reader and so far has spent most of his extra free time gardening, decorating and renovating the house! We have two daughters, Kharli and Tree-hugger, one son-in-law and one 17-year grandson - all bookworms!

I love books and have read hundreds (thousands?) over the years. I'll try all sorts but am not too keen on soppy romances and prefer any sex and violence to take place off-page and behind closed doors!

HOW I BOOKCROSS: I love sharing my books and am quite happy to swap some of them but regret that the postal budget won't stretch beyond the UK. With our changed financial status I'm afraid I'm going to be looking even more economically at what I can spend on postage. I rarely sign up for Rays and Rings as I'm not keen on reading to a deadline. I love Wild Releasing but don't have a very good catch rate so please be prepared that any book you send me may vanish into the Great Unknown for ever :-)

RELEASING BOOKS: From discovering BookCrossing on 27th August '05 to 31st July '08 I only did Release Notes if I was releasing a book into the Wild, whether the Truly Wild or the Semi-Wild of OBCZs and Meet Ups. I made Journal Entries for all books I passed on individually, whether in the post or in person.

As from 1st August '08 I've been Wild Releasing as before but using Controlled Releases where I was previously making Journal Entries.

After some initial confusion over where a Controlled Release takes place, since 1st October '08 I've used the actual location of the post office or meeting place where the book leaves my hands :-)

BOOKCROSSING FRIENDS: My policy was that, with just one or two very special exceptions, I only added BookCrossers to my Friends List when I'd met them in person, not when we shared books and/or PMs.

Since the introduction of Mutuality with the new Site I'm re-thinking my approach. I'm considering deleting it altogether. In the meantime, it's more or less frozen - and pretty much meaningless ....

WISH LIST: I know it's rather long - but it's not greed, it's to remind me which novels by some of my favourite authors I haven't read yet and would very much like to :-)

******************************************************************************************************************

Books I'm currently reading are listed here in the order I started them:

Anthony Trollope - The Claverings
Jane Urquhart - The Stone Carvers
Carola Dunn - The Winter Garden Mystery

In theory I'm listening to The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins - and have been for over a year .... but don't hold your breath for a result any time soon ....

The box below lists all the books I've read this year in the order I finished them, latest on top, with any I've abandoned unfinished at the end:

I acquired a Kindle in 2011 but haven't separated e-books from print in the reading list.
I started listening to one audio book, didn't finish it and have carried it over to 2012!

The box below lists all 194 books I read in 2010 in the order I finished them, latest on top, with the nine I abandoned unfinished at the end:

I listened to 3 audio books in 2010:
Jane Austen - Pride and Prejudice (abridged)
Tracy Chevalier - Remarkable Creatures
Edith Wharton - Short Story Collection
I've discovered that I don't get on too well with them and generally fall asleep .....
