Extended Profile
For the past 13 years I've been librarian for Nordegg Public Library (I volunteer & it's a labour of love) in a hamlet of less than 100 people. Most of the library's books go out as inter-library loans to other patrons in the province. I love your idea
and have some books I can "launch" in my area and beyond.
I am an avid reader and friends talk about my "library". I used to work in fire towers, and by the middle of summer I was reading 2 1/2 paperbacks a day. I worked in the arctic (Baker Lake area) monitoring 2 caribou herds for 2 summers as a wildlife technician and spent the winter aging caribou teeth in Rankin Inlet. I only visit the city for family and then usually only once or twice a year. I could live in the bush indefinitely - that's how my library has grown - living in isolated locations, some with no power where reading, crafts, hiking and boating is my only entertainment. If I ever move to a small community, I could probably set up my own lending library.
I have 1 dog and 2 cats. Nordegg is in the mountains and 1 hour from groceries, the bank, medical, etc. I've been here for 20 years and looks like I'll be here for several more. I love the outdoors and you'd be surprised where I can take my mini van off-highway!! I have thousands of photos & slides and I enjoy crafts.
