  • Quotation of the Moment: Taken from recent reading
“Happiness. It was the place where passion, with all its dazzle and drumbeat, met something softer: homecoming and safety and pure sunbeam comfort. It was all those things, intertwined with the heat and the thrill, and it was as bright within her as a swallowed star.”
Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Laini Taylor

  • Wild Releases: I love book trades, but my favorite part of BookCrossing is releasing into the wild! Release challenges have added an element of fun and adventure to releasing. 233 books have received journal entries after I released them in the wild. Here are a few favorites:
Whirligig, released on a DC Metro train, was my first release to receive a journal entry.
The Florida visitor who found Snow Falling on Cedars considered it one of the highlights of her trip.
Indigo bounced all over the United States and Europe in its travels!
A Country Year inspired the finder to read more books by the same author.
Danny: The Champion of the World was found by a young photographer in its remote release location.
The Trials of Tiffany Trott surprised a couple moments after they became engaged.
Piping Down the Valleys Wild stayed true to its name by continuing its wild journey.
Waiting didn't wait to jump across the ocean to Germany and beyond!
The Honey Thief was caught twice (but never jailed).
Indecent Exposure made another trans-Atlantic journey, this time to England, where it was re-released and caught again.
Dateline: Troy and A Long Day's Journey Into War were both found by GeoCachers.
The finder of I'd Rather Be in Philadelphia took the title seriously, and brought the book along to release during a trip to that city!
In another double-hop, A Glass of Blessings made its way to two wilderness locations.
Girl with a Pearl Earring, rescued from a flooded area after torrential rains, went on to be caught again the DC area and then to cross the country to California.
Sea Glass found its reader at just the right moment.
Five Quarters of the Orange, released in a refrigerator, was passed hand-to-hand among friends, along with chocolate to honor its food theme.
To the Wedding spent over six years traveling, from New York to England, landing eventually with a couple two months before their own wedding.
