Hello kiddies! I now have a LiveJournal!!!!
Click the linky
I grew up in a household that never lacked for books. My parents always encouraged me to read, and seeing them seemingly always with a book in their hand, it was hard not to pick up on the importance of reading, even at a young age.
My interests vary from week to week, month to month, year to year. I enjoy biographies, sci-fi, fantasy, biographies, social commentary or criticism, politics, media studies, wrestling, history, all kinds of things. You'll see this more as I get my bookshelf
in order.
I've always felt that it doesn't so much matter WHAT you read, just that you DO read. Far too many kids today are growing up not knowing how to read. Reading is the best way to know about the world around you, be it researching current events, or just reading
your daily newspaper. Knowledge is power. If you don't read, you give up so much of that power away, as you are ignorant to what's going on around you. Too many kids dropping out of school not being able to read at even a 3rd grade level. I encourage folks
to read more and watch less tv.
