Extended Profile
I love books. I don't remember a time when I didn't love books. I think I'm addicted to reading..... I don't think I'm alone in this ;)
I'll read pretty much anything, as long as it's well-written. I like a good story told with style! But trying to describe what makes a really good book always reminds me of that bit in Persuasion when Anne Elliott is talking with her cousin Walter about good company - he listens to her definition of good company and then says, "But that's not good company. That's the best." So, to equate my reading tastes with the tastes Austen's characters in company: I'm probably more like Walter. I'd love the luxury of being as fussy as Anne, but then I'd probably hardly ever have anything to read. This doesn't stop me appreciating the really, really fantastic books that come my way :)
Also, the way I rate books has a lot to do with the mood I'm in at the time - and also, what I thought of them compared with what I expected from them - so not all books that get an 8 (say) from me are necessarily ones that I think are equal quality. I'd love to be able to be a little more objective, but I just can't, so I'll just have to live with it.

(These are only the ones I'm waiting on. Anything I've passed on has been deleted - ditto any where the book has gone missing.)
"Girl, Interrupted" (bookring organised by emmagoldmanzine)
"Until I Find You" (bookring organised by RDWirral)
There might be more that I've forgotten - I assume I'll remember when someone PMs me asking for my postal address so they can send me a book ;)
