I love to read!!! I always have. However, the little time that I devote to reading lately, consists mainly of bus trips to and from work, and a few other "in between" moments.
When I first discovered bookcrossing I got excited about all sort of BC activities: book challenges, rings, rays, releases, meetups, the forums... But then when I had to force myself to read a book for the sole reason of the author's last name initial, I realised that this way of reading was taking away the pleasure, and turning reading into a constant competition (not necessarily against others). Also it created an eternal list of "pending books" which made me feel guilty for not being reading at all times.
So I'm taking it veeery easy now!!! I know I am a slow reader... and I read very little compared to many of you here. But I deeply enjoy it. I think that should count too.
Me encanta leer!!! Siempre me gustó. Sin embargo, cuento con poco tiempo, la mayor parte de mis lecturas de hoy suceden en viajes de colectivo entre casa y el trabajo, siempre y cuando haya suficiente luz.
Cuando conocí bookcrossing comencé a participar en varios tipos de actividades: desafíos de lectura, libroanillos, meetups, foros... Pero luego de auto-obligarme a leer un libro solo porque el apellido del autor empezaba con "Z" concluí que BC estaba cambiando mi modo de leer y sacando parte del disfrute... convirtiendo todo en una competencia (a veces contra mí misma, pero competencia al fin), además de generárseme una extensa lista de "pendientes" que me hacía sentir culpa de no estar leyendo todo el tiempo.
Así que decidí volver a leer como lo hacía antes... menos cantidad, menos reglas, y menos orden. Y nada de llevar cuenta de cuantos libros llevo leidos en lo que va del año!!! Puede ser que lea lento, y posiblemente lea muchos menos libros de los que leen otros bookcrossers. Pero disfruto de la lectura profundamente. Cada uno a su modo, no? Para mì vale.
