Looks like we've got ourselves a reader!

I was in Fyffe, Alabama last year. After the show, I went to a Waffle House. I'm not proud of it, I was hungry. And I'm eating, I'm alone and I'm reading a book, right? Waiter walks over to me:

"Hey, what you readin' for?"

Is that like the weirdest fucking question you've ever heard? Not what am I reading, but what am I reading … for.

Hello there & welcome to my bookshelf!

Me as a reader: passionate, seasonal, sometimes demanding to the extent of giving up halfway through. I may keep a book on my bedside table for a very long time, if there are pauses in between.

Subjects of interest: art and colour, linguistics, surrealism/dreams/hallucinations, black humor, social horror, marine life, the absurd, 1001, gothic romance classics from the 1800s, postmodernism, environmental issues, cultural history, androids, poetry, common science, listology, facts & figures, seas/islands/coasts, nightlife, steampunk, geography & travelling, artisic & musical biographies, Japanese weirdness, life in Vienna, all things French... ... ...

Authors of interest: Haruki Murakami, Kobo Abe, Ryū Murakami, Amélie Nothomb, Louis-Ferdinand Céline, J.-M.G. Le Clézio, Tahar Ben Jelloun, Orhan Pamuk, Marguerite Duras, Patrick Modiano, Samuel Beckett, James Joyce, William Shakespeare, Virpi Hämeen-Anttila, Esko Valtaoja, Johanna Sinisalo, Eeva-Liisa Manner, Helena Sinervo, Tove Jansson, Arthur Schnitzler, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Robert Frost, Margaret Atwood, Ray Bradbury, Bill Bryson, Chuck Palahniuk, Richard Brautigan... and so many more!

Check out my current wish list ;) If you RABCK me, I might RABCK you back. I read in English, Finnish, French, Spanish, Swedish or German for dummies.

Bookring/bookray policy:

I like to participate in bookrings and bookrays, if there's something interesting on offer. However, I have a life and a job that requires reading, so please understand if there are times when I respond to messages with delay. I don't check my BC mails daily. My work is connected to literature to an extent, so if there's a book I need for professional purposes, I hope you will agree that using stuff for work might take its time. There are schedules that have to be followed, and since my survival depends on my work, I will rather let my BC activity suffer than neglect my job. However, if I intend to stall a book for an exceptional period of time, I will usually try and let everyone concerned know about this. This is (serious) leisure, but still leisure. I hope you understand. So no hard feelings, eh? :)
