Extended Profile
Hello, hello!
I so enjoy it when someone who finds a book of mine takes the time to journal it. What a thrill!
For those who have a PO Box address for me, please don't use it.
I am a retired educator & teacher advisor in instructional computing. My taste in reading is very eclectic; I enjoy Kingsolver, Koontz, Terry Pratchett, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Toni Morrison...
I also enjoy participating in a few release challenges each year, so I often will register literally hundreds of books I never intend to read but just release as part of those challenges. (To illustrate just how obsessed I can become in a challenge, I released 868 books for the month-long Animal Challenge in '06.) I do not join challenges in December or February because I'm usually out of town too many days. I created and then hosted the Tick Tock Challenge for two years; in 2006 over 2400 books were released for that challenge. In January of 2008 I hosted the Heart and Soul Challenge; 1543 books were released for that one. In June, 2008 I hosted the "Zapped, Kaput, Fini Challenge. Over 500 books were released for that one."
I was born in Los Angeles and lived/attended school/worked there most of my life. The AZ mountains are a nice change. I also spend seven to eight weeks a year in Maui (two 3-4 week visits at a time) where I love to watch the humpback whales in the winter, snorkel, and just listen to the surf.
Other than reading, I enjoy baseball, water skiing, traveling, adventure games, Scrabble, volunteer groups, and computers. I maintain websites for a couple of non-profit groups as well as my husband's business (for which I also serve as Number One Go-fer). I also enjoy hiking and discovering creative new ways to make trouble. Heh~
I've been married to the love of my life for over 42 years and I have a wonderful, 31 y/o son.
In most instances, trading is fine with me.
