I love reading and sharing my love of books with others. I worked for an independent bookstore chain for three and one half years, until it filed for bankruptcy. I founded a book group-- Beyond Chapter Three-- whose membership consisted of former bookstore
employees and then current coworkers. This group ranged in age from 20- 82, we were a lively group of readers. The group disbanded temporarily when various members changed employment and moved away.
BC3 is now active again with 10 members who meet and share a meal and great book discussion. One of our members came to us through bookcrossing.com!
I work as a teachers' aide at an elementary school in Duncanville, TX. I am the In School Suspension instructor and I also work in the library. It's exciting to see them learn to read and catch the reading bug that hopefully stays with them their whole lives.
My 2010 stats-- I read 98 books this year. Of those, 18 were non-fiction. 86 of the 98 were bookcrossing books, either passed on to me or registered by me. Although I didn't fulfill my A-Z challenge, I did read 28 new authors. My DH is very pleased by my percentage
of bookcrossing books, but can not see the empty holes left by the books passed on. He hasen't figured out that I can not stand empty holes on a bookshelf, I filled the holes in with new books, of course!
2011 A-Z Author Challenge
I've decided to do this challenge again. Hopefully this year I'll succeed!
