Hi all,
an old friend from the USA (I spent an exchange year there 2001/2002) sent me a box with two books, thats how I got to know bookcrossing and I'm forever thankful!

Reading has been a passion of mine since I can think. It all began with my father reading books to my brother and me. We would lie on his bed, close our eyes and drift away. My father is a very good reader :-)
My first books were by Astrid Lindgren (Sweden). Europeans know her inside out, I guess, but I don't know about the rest of you. Anyway, they are beautiful storys. Then came Michael Ende (Germany) and Enid Blyton (England). In that time and afterwards I red a lot of different books by a lot of different authors.
And now I come to the point where everything changed. It was on easter vacation 2000. We were in Italy. There, the sun above me and the sea below me, I began to read The Lord Of The Rings and I was stunned, I couldn't stop and my whole being was captured by this book. Actually I'm proud to have read it before the movies came out and I'm still of the opinion that all others missed the major part and power of those storys. The sad thing is, they can never get it now. Anyway, I felt like these books would change my life forever, they did, too, in a way. I began to read all of Tolkien and other beautiful fantasy. Harry Potter is such a book for example, which also captured me completely. Well, so it went on and on. What is also important is, that I deny almost every TV show, whatever the topic. I prefer spending my free time with books, and I get my information from news magazines and sometimes the paper. I hold literature as one of the most important sources of life and no TV show or other media-entertainment can rise to that level in my opinion.

What else can I tell you about myself:
Of course I like music, that is Jimmy Eat World, Bon Jovi, R.E.M, Meatloaf and last but not least classical music (the 6th symphony of Beethoven, the Linz-symphony of Mozart, the Four Seasons of Vivaldi and the Scottish Symphony of Mendelsohn-Bartholdy for example).

Apart from reading and listening to music I spent most of my free time in the drama club of my school, singing in a gospel choir and doing volunteer-work for my church or my exchange organisation YFU.

The most important people in my life are my family and my four wonderful best friends.
