Before requesting a book from me, PLEASE READ BLUE TEXT BELOW!

Check out this article about my OBCZ!!!

Thank so much to Ghir who made me the fabulous stamp, above, that combines my two loves...bookcrossing & greyhounds!

I'm a mother, wife, midwife, and habitual housework avoider. My bookshelf doesn't necessarily reflect my tastes, as I'm a notorious book scavenger, picking them up from friends, Good Will, Book Sales, and anywhere I can find text to share!

My latest project is my new OBCZ at Isaac's Restaurant in Spring Ridge!

I also love to release books at my clinic, where many of the kids have few or no books of their own. I frequent the local Good Will clearance center for many of these books, and try to dig up Spanish childrens' books as well. While I often trade/RABCK "grown up" books, I generally do NOT trade/RABCK the childrens' books, for a couple of reasons: first, they are going to kids here who really, really want and need them, and second, I generally get them for next to nothing, and honestly, they aren't worth the postage they cost to send. Updated 10/08: I will no longer respond to requests for children's books. Honestly, I don't send them. You can find Franklin's Thanksgiving for a penny at amazon.com plus shipping if you must have it. I'm giving them to needy kids. Please don't ask!! And no, I won't change the status of all of them from available; I use "reserved" for book boxes & challenges. Sorry to be snarky but it's getting old.

My other passion is greyhound rescue, helping these gentle & sweet discarded remnants of man's greed into forever homes. For more information, please PM me, or go to www.adopt-a-greyhound.org or First State Greyhound Rescue.

I moderate the Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes Challenge every February. I'm also the Chart Mistress for the Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Challenge, and co-hosted the 2007 Tick Tock Challenge. More to come!

"For me--as, I believe, for a lot of readers--when a book gets overhyped, we get mad. We're a funny, cliquish group, we book people, and sometimes we resist liking--or even resist opening--the very thing everybody tells us we're supposed to like." Sara Nelson, So Many Books, So Little Time

BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com sell materials promoting illegal cock- and dog-fighting activities
I choose not to spend my money, or even waste web-hits, on organizations willing to make money on animal cruelty. To send an email to Amazon's CEO protesting this practice, go here: http://www.hsus.org/acf/news/amazoncom_under_fire.html

The WeatherPixie
After having received a particularly snide email from a self-appointed monitor, I have to post this caveat:

I frequently work shifts of 24-48 hours. Because of other things (like kids & greyhound commitments), sometimes it takes me a few days after that to catch up on my emails. I also do NOT compulsively read the boards. But I DO get caught up, and I DON'T hold up bookrings/rays/etc (average turnaround around 2 weeks). So if you need to get hold of me, please PM me...and have a little patience! Thank you!
