A Little About Me:
I'm a big believer in the freecycle/pay it forward concept, and I instantly fell in love with this site! I quickly became a BookCrossing junkie. :) My friends and family are more than a little concerned about the ever-growing pile of books.
Let me know if you are interested in any of the books marked available. I'm also willing to bump up books to the top of my TBR pile if someone's interested in it. Just shoot me a quick PM about it!
I'm into buying/adopting/rescuing all types of books, so my shelf may not really represent me. Even my TBR pile is a bit deceiving. I'll read just about anything, although I generally don't get into romance or crime stories. However, I have the same attitude
towards trying new books as I do trying new foods: I'll try anything once. :)
Currently Reading: Sword at Sunset by Rosemary Sutcliff
Currenly Listening To (book): The Finkler Question by Howard Jacobson
I'm trying this wish list thing: My wish list Don't be alarmed at the size of it. I just basically use it to keep an electronic copy of my life long TBR list. It cuts down on paper. :) Before I found this site,
I literally had about three different places where I would write down a book title that was recommended. I'm slowly trying to condense that into one big list, and the Cliff's wishlist site has been the perfect place to do that. Thanks Cliff!
Other Stuff:
In case you're here out of boredom, check out some of my favorite places to visit on the net:
1. Care2: Home of my email (no spam!), loads of environmental topics, hints, articles, etc.
2. Freecycle: A great way to recycle things that are still usuable and keep trash out of landfills.
Hint: I pick up a lot of unwanted books this way.
3. The Hunger Site and
Race for the Rainforest: Both of these sites are great click-a-day for a cause sites. For as much time as most of us spend on the computer, it doesn't seem like a lot to ask. Don't forget to click through all the different tabs.
4. Rotten Tomatoes: My favorite site for movie reviews. They don't just tell you if they liked it or not. They collect every single review they can get their hands on and give you the overall percentage of how many
good reviews and how many bad reviews the movie got. Then it's up to you to make the call.
5. Fact Check: An unbiased, nonpartisan organization completely dedicated to the actual facts. Wow, isn't that refreshing? They break down political ads, speeches, and policies to give the bare facts and expose who's lying,
manipulating, twisting words, taking things out of context, etc. They don't just tackle politicians but also organizations and PACs as well. This is one of the few organizations that really tell the truth. They have no agenda other than to hold people accountable
to the facts. That doesn't seem too much to ask. If you really care about being informed, this is a great tool for being a more empowered citizen.
6. Guster: One of my favorite bands. Even if you don't enjoy the music, the online road/studio journal is pure genius.
7. Penguins Hockey: Last, but certainly not least, home of my favorite team in my favorite sport. Go Pens!
